Access to water
Today we compared the population of areas of the world to how much fresh water they had. We found out it wasn't always fair. Many people don't have enough We broke into groups to use our thinking hats to discuss the issue. You can find out more about the Thinking Hats Tool at the bottom of this post.

Water Cycle Stories
We have been learning about the water cycle this week. Some people in Room One wrote a story about the adventures of Little Drop as he travelled around the water cycle.
The Adventure of Little Drop
Once there was a little drop. He was in a lake. Little drop got warm in the sun. He started to rise up into the air. Little Drop went into a cloud and got blown into Australia. The cloud got heavy and cold. Little Drop felt himself turning into water. He rained down over a mountain. He felt himself flowing into a stream. “What’s happening to me?” he wondered.
After a while Little Drop’s river flowed into a dam. The warm sun heated up the surface of the water. Little drop got lighter and started rise up again. “ Here I go again,” he thought and he was off on another adventure.

Adventures of Little Drop
Once there was a little drop and he lived in the New Zealand ocean. All of a sudden he started getting lighter and lighter, he was evaporating!
“Yay ! wahoo! this is the best,” he said.
“I’m going into a rain cloud, I’m c-condensing, I’m freezing.”
before he knew it he was falling into Australia's ocean.
“ I precipitated,” thought Little Drop. “What are these things?” he wondered, as suddenly they started sucking him in.
“Aahh they’re pipes! he said. Little drop felt like he was on a water slide. Then he ended up in someone's kitchen sink. Just as quickly he was washed back down into the drain, that had started sucking him in. Finally he ended up in the in the exact same place he started, the New Zealand Ocean, where he felt himself getting warmer and lighter again...

Catholic Schools Day
St Mary's from Papakura came to visit and help us celebrate National Catholic Schools Day.
St Mary’s Visit.
On Monday 16th May, St Mary’s School Papakura came to St Joseph’s school Pukekohe.
First my classroom got ready. As soon as we were all ready, we all started walking to church. We crossed two roads and a carpark. I could see there were five buses there.
We walked into church and took our seats. Next Keziah welcomed St Mary’s school into the church. The big girls did a ballet dance. The dancers were beautiful.
Then my classroom left the church and went back to the classroom. After about ten minutes waiting, room 9 from St Mary's came into my class. After that we had lunch and a sausage sizzle. I got to meet three people from St Mary’s. They were kind children.
Finally we went to the hall and we made an origami dove with Mr Surrey. At the end of the day we all met again and said our end of the day prayer. The Principal of St Mary’s School said a prayer for us too. Then the school went back to their classroom and grabbed their bags and went home.
It was an outrageously great day, because I got to make new friends and share fun activities with them.
